Seven countries added to Australia’s khapra beetle target-risk list
From 30 April 2026, DAFF added seven countries to Australia’s List of Target-risk khapra beetle countries: Angola, Chad, Guinea, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Tanzania. Turkmenistan was proposed for the list but remains a non-target risk country.
High-risk plant products and target-risk sea containers from these countries must now be treated before export. The exporting country’s plant protection organisation must inspect the goods after treatment and certify that they are free from live Trogoderma species. Consignments shipped on or after 30 April 2026 must meet the new conditions.
DAFF also removed Trogoderma serraticorne from its List of Trogoderma Species of Biosecurity Concern. Inspection and certification requirements continue for all other listed species.
The expanded list reflects the growing global pressure from khapra beetle. More treated consignments and containers increase the need for safe, fast and sustainable fumigation, the market UBL’s Fume8 technology is built to serve.
